Benefit Package Summary 2010

At New Visions, we provide a full range of benefits to our employees. To be eligible for most benefits, employees need to work a regular schedule (not on-call or occasional part-time). Benefits are “pro-rated” for part-time employees. Employees who are hired to work for the agency's offsite contracts are subject to the policies and benefits defined in those contracts.

Health and Welfare Plans

Medical Plan – New Visions offers MVP. Employees pay a share of the premium through payroll deductions. For full-time employees, the cost is minimal for individual coverage.  The cost is more for regular part-time employees, as well as for spouse and family coverage. Once an employee is hired, there is a 30-day waiting period, then coverage begins on the first day of the month following this 30-day waiting period. For example, if your hire date is July 5, your coverage will begin September 1.
Dental Plan – offered at minimal cost. There is a 30-day waiting period after an employee is hired, then coverage begins on the first of the month following this 30-day waiting period.
Premium Only Plan – allows for pre-tax deduction of health and dental premiums
Life Insurance – at no cost
Long-Term Disability (LTD) Insurance – at no cost.

Savings Plans

401(K) – After employees meet the eligibility requirements, they can choose to save for retirement through pre-tax salary deferrals into a 401(k) retirement plan. Based on overall budget and financial considerations, New Visions will also contribute a percentage of eligible employees’ annual earnings into this self-directed 401(k) account, each year that they are enrolled in the plan. To be eligible, employees must have worked at least one year, and must work 1,000 hours per year.

Paid Time Off

• Vacation Leave – After 6 months of employment, regular full-time and regular part-time employees start earning/accruing one day per month. For example, an employee hired on July 11 will complete 6 months of employment on January 11 and will have one day as of February 11.
- Accrual rate increases with tenure.
- Vacation accrual “caps” at 28 days
- If an employee has 20 days available, he/she may “buy back” up to 5 days, as long as there remains a balance of 15 days. Employees apply for this “buy back” once a year in the month preceding their anniversary date.

• Sick Leave – Regular full-time and regular part-time employees earn 8 days per year, pro-rated and accrued on a monthly basis.  Sick leave may be used only for the employee's illness or medical appointments.
Once an employee has earned and not used 24 days, he/she may buy back up to 5 days. Employees must apply for this “buy back” once a year in the month preceding their anniversary date.

• Floating Holiday Leave – Calculated on a calendar year basis, every two months (January 1, March 1, May 1, July 1, September 1 and November 1) eligible employees earn one day, for a total of 6 days per calendar year.  You must be actively employed on the first day of the two (2) month period, to earn the floating holiday for that period.

• Paid Holiday Leave – 7 days per year for regular full-time and regular part-time employees. If a holiday falls on a weekend, that holiday is celebrated on the day before or the day after the weekend.

Other Great Benefits

• Credit Union - Capital Communications Federal Credit Union
• Discount Program – at Empire Vision Center, Great Escape theme parks
• Tuition Assistance – available after employees have completed 6 months of service.

Please note that the above list of New Visions’ employee benefits is a summary only. Employees may refer to plan documents and personnel policies for complete descriptions of our benefits.
